An independent service operator is known as an ISO. There is a process to becoming an independent service operator. A business or sales agent can be a registered or non-registered independent sales agent. The difference between the two is that the registered independent service provider can have sub-agents under their name. The registered ISO is an independent company and are normally larger than the unregistered ISO. The benefits of becoming a registered ISO is being able to provide lower rates on credit card processing services, more control over prices, and residual payment options.
